Resisting temptation is tricky. Research suggests that we are better at resisting temptation when we are intrinsically motivated.

A lot of people instinctively believe that people who do stupid things, like take unnecessary risks, do not exhibit self-control. In reality, self-control is not the best way to manage our impulses.
